Great zone all around.  Many many quests which can be started around level 48 on
up, dependent upon gear / skill.  I'll leave it up to the reader to determine
what level to begin exploring.

My favorite part of the zone is the Power Crystals, followed closely by Un'Goro
Soil and Herbs.

To get the benefits of the Power Crystals, you can get started before you even
obtain the quest.  The pretty shiny colored crystals littering the zone can be
harvested for the quest.  You'll need 7 of each: Red, Blue, Green and Yellow in
order to complete the quest (obtained at Marshall's Refuge in the crystal cave,
wander waaaay back and shield your eyes . . . it's bright in there!):
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=4284

There is a follow up in which you must "inspect" each pylon (simply right click
the pylons to complete each stage . . . and you Must dismount or you will be
unable to click):

55,12 - Northern
23,58- Western
77,50 - Eastern

(Thank you PaFell http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=4288 for saving
me the trouble of running around the zone for coords)

Return to Marshall's Refuge to obtain Making Sense of It:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=4321

You are now set to reap the following rewards (rewards are a ratio of Power
Crystals:Item of 10:6)

Power Crystals:

Red and Green = Crystal Ward (+200 armor to target for 30 min)  No cooldown

Blue and Green = Crystal Force (+30 spirit to target for 30 min)  No cooldown

Yellow and Green = Crystal Restore (15 Sec HoT for 670 hp)  2 min cooldown

Red and Blue = Crystal Yield (Lower target AC by 200 for 2 min)  2 min cooldown

Red and Yellow = Crystal Charge (AE Fire Dmg)  2 min cooldown

Blue and Yellow = Crystal Spire (+12 Dmg Shield for 10 min)  2 min cooldown

Un'Goro Soil

Used in a couple quests and sells for about 1 gold per 10 soil on my server.

Horde:  http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=3761

Ally:  http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=3764

Both:  http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=4496

Basically, collect the soil from dirt mounds in Un'Goro, or from killing mobs in
Un'Goro.  The mounds yield 1-4 soils and mobs 1 soil.

The quests which lead to the Evergreen Pouch
(http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=11020) are very simple.  Bring 20
soils to your faction's quest giver and you are then given access to the
Evergreen Pouch.  Put a soil and a seed packet into the pouch and voila, herbs.
I have received Morrowgrain (used for ThB faction), Gromsblood, Blindweed,
Stranglekelp, Earthroot, Goldthorn, Sungrass, Briarthorn, Swiftthistle,
Kingsblood and Firebloom from the combines.  Morrowgrain has been quantities of
1-5, all others have been 1-2.  Your first few seeds are on the house, but after
that you will need to purchase additional seeds.

davidmanvell has given in-depth information regarding the separate factions'
quests here http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=3792

I'm not sure about the Ally rewards, but Horde will give you +50 ThB faction and
a Cenarion Circle Cache (if only it gave CC faction!).  Now these have quite a
few nice items to make it worth the while (well, to me . . . it's fun =p)  I've
received between 1 and 6 pages full of items, some of them:  Cats Eye Elixir,
Superior Healing Potion, Elixir of Detect Demon / Undead, Elixir of
Demonslaying, Elixir of Shadow Power, Elixir of the Giants, Elixir of Greater
Agility, Greater Mana Potion Arcane Elixir, Frost Oil, Elixir of
Greater Intellect . . . that's all I can recall off the top of my head, various
scrolls usually about rank 3 and then your food and water.

Bloodpetal Sprouts:

Feed Dadanga!  Bring 15 of these sprouts to her and she'll be forever grateful .
. . and forever hungry so the quest is repeatable.  :)
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=5150  You'll receive a Small
Brown-wrapped Package in return for your kindness.  After over a year of feeding
the old cow I've yet to obtain the Elixir of Brute Force recipe (never fear,
found it on the AH for a steal!); however some folks have had the good fortune
to receive it on the first try.  Generally I receive bananas, alterac swiss and
other various foods, drinks, scrolls, major mana and health pots.  Nothing
overly exciting, although the major mana pots are a nice prize.

Mobs of Interest:

The tar species of mobs give money, herbs and living essence.

The bloodpetal mobs give herbs, low level food and Savage Fronds.

Fire elementals in Fire Plume Ridge are an excellent source of Essence of Fire,
Elemental Fire and Heart of Fire.  Rather heavily camped on my server.

Devilsaurs (any elite T-rex variety mob) will yield Devilsaur Leather for
skinners.

Herbing:

At one point this was The place to go for Silversage, Dreamfoil, Sungrass and
Sansam on my server.  Now it's rather picked over; however you may be fortunate
enough to be on a less densely populated server so it's certainly worth a
mention.  Silversage can be found by running along the cliffs.

Mining:

Thorium and Mithril are what I see.  I see mostly Small Thorium nodes; however
Rich Thorium nodes are certainly present.  I personally love how herbs are all
over when I'm on my miner and ores are plentiful when I'm on my herbalist.  ;)

Cloth:

Mobs are creatures, beasts or elementals, with the only humanoids being the
quest givers.  This means you’ll need to find another zone for cloth needs.  :)

Skinning:

Definitely an opportunity to level that skill if you aren't maxed.  A good
portion of the mobs in Un'Goro are skinnable.  I’m no skinner but I’ve seen
Thick and Rugged Leather along with Devilsaur Leather skinned thus far.

Quests:

I leveled from 51 to 54 in Un'Goro.  There are plenty of things to keep a soul
occupied and entertained, and entirely too many quests for me to list here, but
since a guide is supposed to be helpful, here is the link to the various quests
8)  http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/qlookup.html?zone=49  This is simply an
overview with pointers (many of my guildies didn't know about the crystals, for
instance, so I figured I'd spread the word 8).

So, I've been farming SM for about a week.  I really want The Butcher and I'm
stubborn so . . . here I will stay to rot b/c that flith flarnin' elusive bugger
Won't Drop.  =p  This is to the benefit of others, hopefully, though.

[Yellow]Chests[/Yellow]

If you're wanting to make quick runs for guaranteed greens, and aren't looking
for anything in particular, there are 5 static chests.  2 in the GY, 1 in the
Armory and 2 in the Library.  No chests in the Cathedral.

Chest loots:
[ul=circle][li]Locked:  out of 32 chests, 4-6 silver per chest:  10
greys, 90 whites (herbs, food, sweet nectar, cloth, leather, potions), 38
greens, 1 blue, 0 purples[/li]
[li]Unlocked:  out of 43 chests, 4-6 silver per chest:  4 greys, 135
whites (same variety as locked), 57 greems, 4 blues, 0 purples[/li][/ul]

[Yellow]Named / Bosses[/Yellow]

Generally BOP, although the Interrogator has been kind enough to drop several
greens and even a blue for me; however, this took repeated killings.

[Yellow]Rares[/Yellow]

Again, generally BOP, but other items are in their loot table.  If you're
looking to do a quick ML to a lower level toon, or just want to whack the rares
for the lower level they are in the GY only.  Ironspine, Ashzir the Sleepless
and Fallen Champion.  I have found four spawn points for them myself.

[ul=circle][li]One in the mausoleum at the bottom of the 2nd set of stairs (if
you're lower level and are going to pull the rare, make sure to check around the
corners for the wanderers or other mobs which may be within aggro
proximity).[/li]
[li]One pretty much dead center south of the GY (to the right of the, hm, hut?,
in the south)[/li]
[li]One in the SW corner of the GY[/li]
[li]One in the north just to the west of the hut-thing[/li][/ul]

Any of the rares can spawn in any of those areas.  There should be two other
spawn points from what I've read, but I haven't had spawns in those areas yet.
If they aren't up the first run through and you're going to do the other
sections of SM as well, go ahead and kill the place holders, run the other
sections and come back, there will be respawns and one may be the rare.  The
other way is to reset the zone.  Respawn for me took 17 min 44 seconds when I
used CT's timer mod.

[Yellow]Herbs[/Yellow]

[ul=circle][li][cyan]Graveyard [/cyan] - three spawns per reset, I have
also verified that the herbs do respawn.  The spawns can be any combination of
[lime]Kingsblood[/lime] and [lime]Grave Moss[/lime].  I've had 3
of GM and 3 of KB and anything in between.[/li]

[li][cyan]Armory [/cyan] - in the courtyard is one spawn of
[lime]Fadeleaf[/lime], that's it for the Armory.[/li]

[li][cyan]Library [/cyan] - like the Armory, there is a
[lime]Fadeleaf[/lime]  spawn in the courtyard, there is also a
[lime]Liferoot[/lime] spawn by the Houndmaster, you'll have to kill him
and his pooches to get it, though.[/li]

[li][cyan]Cathedral [/cyan] - [lime]Liferoot[/lime] can spawn in
the fountain and [lime]Goldthorn[/lime] spawns in the grassy areas.  I
have not spent enough time in there to determine whether the
[lime]Liferoot[/lime] is a static spawn or if it is similar to the GY and
can be any combination with a limit of 3 maximum node spawns.  There have always
been at least 2 [lime]Goldthorn[/lime] spawns for me, though.[/li][/ul]

[Yellow]Cloth[/Yellow]

Silk is the dominant cloth in this zone.  Wool can be had, but less frequently.
Mageweave can also be had; however, rarely.  If I had to venture a guess at the
rates I'd say 90% silk, 9% wool and 1% mageweave.  Mobs drop between 1 and 4
pieces of silk, I haven't paid attention to wool or mageweave due to the rarity
and I lack a need for either.   A sampling:  GY completely cleared yielded 3
stacks of silk, 5 pieces of wool and 1 piece of mageweave so pretty close to my
percentages guess.

[Yellow]Mobs[/Yellow] - Least difficult to most difficult

[ul=circle]
[li][cyan]Graveyard [/cyan]- 15 humanoid, including the Interrogator, one
wanderer, the rest are static.   Torturers, Scryers and Sentries.  First chest
is near four mobs which can be any combination of torturers (strictly melee) or
scryers (shadow casters).  Upon entering the courtyard it's all undead.
Anguished Dead, Unfettered Spirits, Haunting Phantasm (summons Illusionary
Phantasm which can be killed with very little damage so it's a good idea to
whack the Illusionaries right away because they do normal damage).  The second
chest will either be on the north or east "platforms" or it will be in the
mausoleum, down the first three flights of stairs and then in either the east or
west room.  Unfettered spirits are normal mobs, can be either singles or groups
of three.  If running a lowbie through the instance, the lowbie could kill these
normal mobs while the higher level takes care of the elites, dependent upon the
gearing and level of the lowbie, of course.  Unfettereds are in the low 30s.
Three Rares:  Ironspine, Fallen Champion and Ashzir the Sleepless.  For
Rogues with Blade Flurry - Rogue AE:  Items used: Crystal Spire, Thornling
Seed:  pop spire, Sprint pull Unfettereds, pop Blade Flurry, toss Thornling
Seed.  Depending on gear you might want to pop Evasion.  =p  Level 30s alone
don't hurt, in small swarms they're a nuisance but in groups of 16+ they Can
hurt (think about it, 30 dmg hits single - 300 dmg hits per 10 mobs, big
difference, not to mention you Will get an elite or two in there unless you're
very careful on the pull).  I have Blade Flurry and Prep so I'll pull about 5-6
sets and have them down quickly leaving me with about 2k hp to spare, depending
on how many elites I got in the mix.  I do hit the elites first, too.  (No poo
about my spec, it's what works for me =p)[/li][/ul]
[ul=circle]
[li][cyan]Library [/cyan]- This is where you get the Scarlet Key to open
the Cathedral and Armory doors.  Gallants (melee), Adepts (casters), Diviners
(casters), Beastmasters (hunters would be my bet =p), Monks and Chaplains.  Mid
30s mobs, even the pooches are elite.  4-5 silver per humanoid avg.  Hallways
are congested so it's tough to get through w/o fighting if you're unable to
stealth or blink.  Invis pots would work, but the time it would take for the
cooldown it would be quicker to kill and hope for some nice drops.  1 static
spawn of [lime]Fadeleaf[/lime] in the courtyard, 1 static spawn of
[lime]Liferoot[/lime] in the Houndmaster's area, he will have to be
disposed of to get the node.  Chests - static in the first room you come upon
after leaving the courtyard.  You'll go down the hallway and end up with two
choices, left or right.  Left is your chest.  Three mobs there with a wanderer.
The second chest can be in the 4th or 5th hallway, it hasn't spawned anywhere
else for me.  There are 6 hallways total I am referring to.  If you look at
Atlas, or the map on Alla's,
http://wow.allakhazam.com/images/zones/ScarletMonistaryLibrary.jpg you'll see,
from the west to the east, 1 hallway, cy, 2nd hallway, red carpetted hallway,
grey hallway, red carpetted hallway, grey red carpetted hallway.  Hopefully that
makes sense.  Basically, the second chest spawns in either of the two grey
sections.[/li][/ul]
[ul=circle]
[li][cyan]Armory [/cyan]- All humanoid mid to high 30s, save for Fire
Elementals:  Soldiers, Conjurors and their Fire Elemental pets, Evokers,
Protectors, Guardsmen, Defenders and Myrmidons.  That's pretty much the order
you'll come across the mobs in.  1 static node of [lime]Fadeleaf[/lime]
in the courtyard.  Chest has two spawn points: courtyard or to the right of the
first set of stairs.  There are rockets (firecrackers) at the south end of the
2nd to last hallway to Herod's room, next to 2 mobs but don't forget the
wanderer.  Weapon and armor crates can also be found housing a grey something or
other.  Not really worth clearing the mobs for.[/li][/ul]
[ul=circle]
[li][cyan]Cathedral [/cyan]- All humanoid, high 30s: Defenders,
Myrmidons, Sorcerers, Wizards, Centurions in the courtyard.  2 static
[lime]Goldthorn[/lime] spawns, 1 [lime]Liferoot[/lime] all in the
upper and lower courtyards.  Beyond the Chapel doors:  EVERYTHING must die
beyond these doors if you are going to kill Mograine.  Anything left alive
beyond those doors will assist him.  It's bad enough he gets help from
Whitemane.  =p  Beyond these doors the mobs are in the mid 30s capping at level
40 (aside from Mograine and Whitemane).  You've got Champions, Monks, Abbots,
Centurions, Wizards and Chaplains.  There are no chests, but there is a "secret"
named.  In the room in the NE corner of the Chapel is a lone mob, to the left of
that mob is a torch.  Kill mob, click torch, voila!  Super Top Sekwet room.
Enter to find a very much undead (I know, I said everything was humanoid, but
I'm not even getting paid for this guide so pshaw!) High Inquisitor Fairbanks.
He will not attack until provoked.  He's level 40 and he's uuuuugly.  Green
drops only, decent caster shoulders, so-so leather bracers and "meh" mail boots,
all BOP.  That's it, Mograin and Whitemane are all that's left of this
zone.[/li][/ul]

Since this is a farming guide I did not touch on very many of the bosses since
they drop mainly BOP items.  I also skip most detail about the Armory and
Cathedral because I haven't farmed the mobs, only the herbs and chests thus far.
I'm twinking my baby rogue (lvl 27) through SM so the GY is my farm spot atm.
Wait, a rogue with a rogue alt?!  WTF?!  What can I say, I enjoy the class.  =p
Besides that, I need a miner / skinner and I already know the rogue class and
have helped several friends level their own rogues so it was the logical choice,
I can zip through the levels quickly.  =D  Seriously, though, if twinking or
catering to the high 20s to low 30s, SM is a great zone.  Greens drop like
candy, cloth is free flowing for that first aid and other tradeskills, and
there's no competition for mobs so you can farm in peace.
